This is not the case... we are not using this alias on any other slave.

The multisite does create the multisite folder and in the master slave folder (sub-domain).

How we are using MULTISITES:
We have created a slave site and then we are creating new slave site based on the template of the original slave.

Each time we save, all the the settings are correct. We just get this error, yet when we check the config file, it does show the alias. Yet we continue to get this error

The site alias parameter is a field where you have to give a full path where you want to create the alias.

This mean that the path that you provided already exists.

If you have not specified the full path, it is created in the current directory (probably the /administror) directory.

The site alias could be something like {root}/{site_id} to ensure that the alias is created in the root directory of your website.

I have given it a full path to where I wanted to create the alias in the html folder www.xxxxx.com/multisites/{site_id}

In the templates folder I have:
/chroot/home/XXXXUSER/XXXDOMAINXXX.com/html/subdomain/{site_id}

And the folders are being created there in the subdomain/{site_id} folder. And the multisites/{site_id} folder is being created.

And in the config for the new slave the alias is there. But the error on the dashboard of the managed sites page still reports: Unable to create the alias. Perhaps it is already used by another website.

It also appears that when I attempt to change the alias it does not appear to change in the green type above the text form for the Alias.

the alias field = {root}/{site_id}

If you are trying create an alias that already exists, this is normal.
Review again the parameters.

That worked to stop the alias problem. However, now we get this error:\
Unable to create the symbolic link [administrator] -> [/chroot/home/XXXUSER/XXXdomain.com/html/administrator].
