TOPIC: Error writing configuration file

Error writing configuration file 11 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 0
Hi,

joomla 2.5
JMS 1.3.22 Basic
Hikashop e-solution

Noticed couple days ago that HikaSop component is not working on slave site. Site itself is working, but without shop.
Master site including Hikashop is working well.

Updated JMS but the problem did not disappeared.
Besides, by opening JMS -->Site Manager -->Edit Site (Slave site)--> Save (without changing anything) got error message:

"Error writing configuration file [/home/.../domains/.../subdomains/..../public_html/configuration.php]

What is wrong?

Thank you!

The message "error writting confgiguration" means that you have updated the "configufation.php" via the global configuration of the slave site.
In this case, Joomla change the permission of the file in "Read only" after the update.

When you edit a slave site and re-save it, JMS rebuild the "configuration.php" based on the information that you have provided in JMS.
As the file is read only, it can not be modified.
JMS does not change the permission of the file to let you verify what could be changed in the file.

We prefer to let the administrator decide himself if he want to replace the "configuration.php" file by the one regenerated by JMS.
If yes, you can just change the permission of the file in read/write
If no, we recommend that you perform a backup of the "configuration.php" file before changing the permission. So that you could compare and perhaps restore it in case where you don't want to keep the file generated by JMS.

Thank you for your answer, Edwin!

But it seems I gave wrong info - it was not on slave site, but MASTER. Sorry for misleading!

JMS -->Site Manager -->Edit Site (MASTER site)--> Save --> error

The JMS Site manager only display slave site.

If you say that you edit "master site", this mean that you edit a SLAVE site that you called "master site".

If you can not write a configuration.php this is because it is read only and that you have to change its permission manually.
