We are trying to move just a slave site to a new Joomla-Installation without multisites.

Is this possible in an easy way?

Yes this is possible.

To replace the symbolic link on the disk by the physical copy, use the linux command
#tar -chzf [Deploy Dir].tgz [Deploy Dir]

Once the backup is restored somewhere, uninstall JMS and replace the "configuration.php" file by the one of the slave site.
This will provide you the connection to your slave instead of the one of the master.

Hello Edwin -- In my JMS site, each slave has its own "images_specific" directory. When we restore the actual files in place of symbolically linked directories for a slave site, does it add the images in "images_specific" back to the "images" directory as they would be by default? That would obviously mean that the image paths programmed into the site content would need to be changed. Does JMS change them, or do I have to move them into the "images" directory, and then search/replace to fix the paths in the database?

I also wonder about the uninstall of the JMS component. In my site, each slave site has its own database, so I am backing up the slave's database, and then connecting it on the new server. Unless I'm mistaken, that would mean that I would skip the step of uninstalling the JMS component, correct?

When you do the "tar -czhf" yes the "h" mean resolve all symbolic links and make a physical copy.
So you will get the image_specific and images

The "image path" is a parameter that you may have setup when creating the slave site.
You can retreive this "joomla setup" inside the Media Manager options.
JMS just fill this data that is store into the DB.
So everything should be good.

In theory, JMS should never been installed in a slave site.
So it should not have been declared in the DB.
If you had installed it, you can un-install it.
Remark: When you uninstall, this also restore the "configuration.php" file that were save when JMS were installed.
So keep a copy of your "configuration.php" file before doing the uninstall.
Tou may perhaps need it again in the case where you would have change the DB password or other thing.
