TOPIC: geo-location issues?

geo-location issues? 11 Years, 11 Months ago Karma: 0
hello

We started to work with geo-locations and unfortunately is not working correctly.

I activated maxmind key for cities ,( and query is recorded on their portal - working)
but if any geo-location setting is enabled and website is using any city , country ( local or from maxmind key) is always redirecting to master website.

I tested with different proxies, asked friends from different countries and is always same result.

what are the troubleshooting steps?

Thank you

I confirm same issues are also related to changed
User agent

All websites having extra configurations added are redirecting to master website

When you setup a specific geo-localisation, ensure that you also have a slave site that correspond to a default rendering.
Otherwise, if the geo-localisation does not match and any slave site definition contain a default rule (no geo-localisation) then this is the master website that is displayed.

In the settings menu, you can enable the logs for the geo-localisation.
This would help you identifying how the rules are processed and what might be wrong.

You can also enable the log for the browser feature detection.

OK

I think having samples , videos of basic and more complex configuration of geo and agent would be perfect.
I went and read entire
Documentation
jms2win.com/en/component/docman/doc_down...rs-manual-version-13

watched all new videos and found only 13b is briefly mentioning the concept of Geo implementations

Also there is ( I guess ) one mention about geo in the forum
jms2win.com/en/forum/23-general-question...o-localisation#10591

I verified and created log files in settings as mentioned
I see only //_site: www <== match OK

where there is no geo configuration set yet.
So I hope my sample I will ask here will help not only me by also others

We have master.maindomain.com as per settings

www.maindomain.com the primary slave website

this www.maindomain.com is primary domain where all social media, API ,components are connected with.

We have approximately 15-20 more slave domains under www

We can not use linkedin , facebook twitter login API with other domains so we created second slave with those domains sharing all the content but removed conflicting login issues ( is working fine)

we have also one slave website under www

www.outsidecountrydomain.com

we have couple goals here

1) if someone outside the country will access www.maindomain.com
will be redirected to www.outsidecountrydomain.com

my questions is do I have to go and configure www.outsidecountrydomain.com slave website or www.maindomain.com?

with
- geo use all others countries than mine?
- redirect to the first domain

www.outsidecountrydoamin.com
international.outsidecountrydoamin.com
international.outsidecountrydoamin.com:80
international.outsidecountrydoamin.com
outsidecountrydoamin.com
www.outsidecountrydoamin.com
outsidecountrydoamin.com
www.outsidecountrydoamin.com:80
outsidecountrydoamin.com:80
maindomain.com
www.maindomain.com
maindomain.com:80
www.maindomain.com:80
maindomain.com
www.maindomain.com

If I will configure this on slave www.outsidecountrydomain.com than there will be
double entries for www.maindomain.com

If I will configure this on www.maindomain.com

then I will not have chance ( correct me if wrong) to use www.maindomain.com to use for

city.maindomain.com or

state.maindomain.com which we would like to use or even to redirect to

www.maindomain.mobi for mobile devices.

I know this component is very complex and just come out from beta so please clarify what is the best practices to utilize new features in updated documentation or videos.
Unfortunately even IF I consider myself familiar with the jms2win can't find the way to make this work correctly.

Thank you
