Questions about k2/joomfish/database 11 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 0
Hello,

Questions about jms2win:

I like to have several website (examples: website.com, website.eu, website.nl, website.de). There will be 1 master website, the other sites will show specific content of the master website and own content.

Can I work with K2 items?
I want to create many k2 items on the master website (website.com).
On the slave websites, I will show some specific k2 categories, not all the items/categories... Is it possible?
When I create a new k2 item in the master, will it appears also in the slave website?

How about multilanguage websites? Can I work with joomfish?
Do I have to translate everything in the master website? And can I specify on the slave websites which languages has to be active…

About database: Is there 1 database for all the websites?
Has every website his own 'prefix' for the database… How it works?

Kind regards Dageraad

1) Yes you can use K2 in joomla.
With JMS, it is also possible to share the K2 content.
See the list of extension that are currently defined in the JMS tool menu and also the one that can be shared.
www.jms2win.com/en/list-of-extensions?vi...id=269&Itemid=53

With the sharing of an extension, this share the whole content of the extension.
Therefore, this share all the K2 categories.

If you want to have a kind of partial categories sharing then you need to add the "Article sharing for JMS" that allow display a category as a blog coming from another website. This only works with the Joomla categories and articles (not k2).

2) Yes you can use JoomFish
If you share the whole content of a site then in this case, you use the same DB and table prefix. In this case, you can set the translation in any website because in fact you just have one website.

If you create separated website with their own DB or at least different table prefix then you have to install JoomFish in each website and they will be indepedent of each other. In other words, this will be like if you had separated standalone website.

3) In JMS, you can also decide to select the default joomla language.
So if you decide that share the whole content of a website, you could switch from one language to another one automatically depending on the browser language. See mediaum and full edition for that.
