Site ID already exits - GoDaddy w/ IIS7 14 Years, 9 Months ago Karma: 0
Have a GoDaddy deluxe account with two domains registered to it.
www.domain1.com = D:\host\***\***\home\
www.domain2.com = D:\host\***\***\home\domain2\

Installed Joomla via the GoDaddy scripted install page
Paid for and downloaed JMS multi-site
Installed multi-site
Settings show
\Database msql5.x shows sharable
\Dont see anything about symbolic links
Tried to create first slave site into domain2 folder and receive the Site ID already exists error

I looked at the permissions and everything has read/write/create permissions. I see the new folders created and files placed inside them.

Would like for both sites to share the same DB, users, etc..

Am I missing something. Watched the tutorials and parsed through some of the docs but couldn't find much on IIS or GoDaddy setups.

Any help is much appreciated.

Which kind of Godaddy server have you chosen.
It seems that you have a Windows (IIS7).
If this is the case, that mean that Symbolic Link is not allowed.
The Symbolic Link is only allowed for Unix platform.

Concerning the Site ID already exists, this mean that the directory /multisites/{site_ID} is already present. So check if you have already created a slave site with the same site ID or if you have a directory in /multiisites with this name.

Yes Windows (IIS7) is correct.

There were no /multisites/{site_ID} already there. This is a new GoDaddy account and a fresh install of Joomla.
No slave sites were already created... this is a fresh install.
Your app is creating the folder on its own but still gives the error.
I tried different different Site IDs...Same thing, it creates the folders then returns the same error.

Give detailled screenshot or thing like that.

If you create a slave like "slave1".
you must have a directory "/multisites/slave1"

I found something I was doing wrong I believe. Yes if I create a slave site with only a {SiteID} and "no {template folder ID}" it creates the folder and works (I can install Joomla for slave1). But when I change something on the slave1 site is changes also on the master site. Which means its not working as 2 independent sites and overwrites the master site.

Master site = D:\host\****\****\home\

DNS for slave1 redirected to
Slave1 site = D:\host\****\****\home\multisites\slave1\

Why is it installing Joomla in the master site home folder again. Shouldn't be installed it in the Slave1 site folder? I must be missing a step or maybe its not supported with GoDaddy and IIS7.

Regards,
JB
