"Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to database"
means that you have provide wrong DB parameters.
This is totally independent of the Symbolic Links and there is no relationship between DB and Symbolic Links.
So check the DB parameters (server, dbname, user, password, table prefix).

Edwin,
When I revert to JMS1.1.24 , everything back to normal.
No Database Error. and No symbolic links error.
But I really need JMS1.2. If I can work out what goes wrong, I will post it here.
Thanks for your kind advice.

I don't know what may be specific in your case.
JMS 1.1.x and 1.2.x works the same way except it uses addition DB parameters (not only the table prefix).
I sugest that you create a fresh environment somewhere to check it yourself.
JMS has just introduced all the DB parameters and not only the table prefix like that was the case in JMS 1.1.x.
So I suspect that you have provide wrong DB connection parameters (server, dbbname, user and password).
With JMS 1.1.x, those parameters was the one of the website to replicate.
Now you have to provide correct values (that does not seems the case).

I need go to bed now.
I did some manual operation in JMS 1.1. ie. I manually changed all slave DBs to be individual DBs, not sharing with the parent.
Maybe, It caused some problems....
