SOLVED 404 Not Found error in slave site only 14 Years, 9 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi

I have Joomla 1.5.12 . JMS 1.2.2

First, I have renamed htaccess.txt to .htaccess in Master Site.

Second, I have enabled SEF in Joomla in Master Site.

Master Site works fine. No errors.

Then, I enabled SEF in Joomla in Slave Site1.

I'm getting 404 Not Found error on all links.

Weird thing, when I created a new article called (test 404 error) in specific section and category, It showed in this path:
www.domain.com/component/content/article...-test-404-erorr.html

Should'nt the correct path be in this:
www.domain.com/mysection/mycategory/47-test-404-error.html ?

Thanks in advance
Moonlight

First the version number of JMS is wrong because 1.2.2 does not exists.
perhaps you want to say 1.1.22 or 1.2.0 RC 2

The htaccess is a special file that is effectivelly present in the master website but may be copied or linked into the slave site.
So you have to check also the slave site definition and see how is defined the htaccess.
Does it exists in the deploy directory ?

Have you enabled the slave site global configuration with the apache mode rewrite and also the Joomla SEF.

I can tell you it works because your are using www.jms2win.com that is a slave site of my company and that use the htaccess and Joomla SEF.

You have to check the htaccess of each slave site.

Thanks for your replay

First I have Version 1.2.0 RC4
Patches definition Version 1.2.2

In my slave sites I have htaccess.txt NOT .htaccess and it's linked from Master.

htaccess.txt Description: link to home/content/x/x/x/xxxx/html/master/htaccess.txt

what do you think ?

If you want to use the Joomla SEF in a slave site, you also have to put a .htaccess as you do it for the master website.

Remember that each website is independent and if you have not created this file into the depploy folder, Joomla will not be able to use the apaches mod rewrite that is required for Joomla SEF

Dear Sir,

1. Could you please tell me, do you want me to copy .htaccess file that is in master and paste it in slave sites ?

2. Could you please tell me about this weird thing, when I created a new article called (test 404 error) in specific section and category, It showed in this path: www.domain.com/component/content/article...-test-404-erorr.html

1) Perhaps YES.
You have to consider each website independent.
If you have deployed the slave site into a specific directory AND that you have configured your slave site to user Joomla SEF, it is normal the Joomla expect to have a .htaccess into your slave site. If you don't have such files (like you have created in your master) this is totally normal that you are not able to process the URL correctly.
So proceed in a slave site like you have done it in the master.
So create the .htaccess.

2) This is the Joomla SEF convention.
I suggest you search directly the detail of this processing in Joomla itself.
When using Joomla SEF, it use the ID of the articles in the URL and this is you that select if you want to produce the .html or not.
The name is computed from the article alias that you have defined.

The URL seems to be correct for Joomla SEF.
Your problem is perhaps related to the fact that you have not created the .htaccess and you have not selected the apaches mod rewrite.
