When an extension is not present in this list, this does not mean that it does not work.

Thank you for your quick response. I do not understand the difference between the install column and the user sharing column. I am just looking to ensure that the components can be used on a single install across the multiple sites. Can you please point me towards a definition of 'user sharing'?

The column sharing mean that you can share this extension between several websites.

For example you have the possibility to share the joomla user but also extension like jomsocial, jevent, community builder, kunena forum, ...

Sharing at the different of "syncrhonized" extension mean that you really share data. On other words that you have a single instance of the data. There is no replication and no duplication of the data between different website as when you share you have the access to the single information correspondant to this extension.
In the case of users, this mean that the data are store in a single place. The place is the one where you have decided to create the users. The other website just use link to connect on this user table.
This is like a shortcut in windows that allows you access to physical information present in another place. The information is present only once and the others are links.
