Front - end dynamic slave site creation 12 Years, 10 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi,

How can i use front end dynamic slave site creation for existing domains (say www.slave1.com,www.slave2.com etc ). There is no option in front end to input site url.

I have created a website template for this and i am able to create slave site for external domains through back end (using field 'List of domain names'), but there is no option in front end to enter domain name. How can i resolve this? Please help!

Thanks

Hi,

Fixed this issue by using Alias as sitename.

Becarefull that if you let somebody enter a free URL in the front-end, you need something to setup your server to recognize the new domain name and also setup the directory in your server where will be deployed the slave site.
In cPanel, this may require to create an AddOn Domain on the domain entered in the URL.

Normally, the URL should be the result of a computation based on the parameters entered like a subdomain or a subdirectory of something that you control.

So we do not recommend to let a user enter a free URL.

Hi,

Thank you for your update.

Name Server of all the domains (those entered by users, all are existing) are pointed to our master directory. I tried it in local server by setting different virtual host pointing to master directory and it works for me. Will it create any problems while moving to server (It will be a dedicated godaddy server).

Thanks

If you are happy with your setting, for me this is OK but if you let any body enter a URL from the front-end, you can not say that your server is already defined with all the values.
That was just my remark.
