Template creation and Symbolic link issue 13 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello,

We have installed 1.2.50 and configured. Now whenever we are trying to create a template, we are not getting SL : Symbolic link option. We have checked demo, and in demo it is showing symbolic option. But some how in our site we are not able to find that. So can anyone help on this please?

Is this a version issue? Please take a look at the attached screen-shots.

Symbolic Link is a functionality available on Linux platform and not on Windows platform.
You can use the "hello world" procedure to verify if your server accept the Symbolic Link.

See video 7

When you are working on Windows platform with IIS, you are not able to deploy a website into a specific directory.
All the domain and subdomain must be assigned to your master directory.
The only thing that you can do under windows and IIS and to create "virtual directories" that point to the master website directory. This will simulate a kind of link.
Here it is a FAQ that perhaps will help you sharing the same directory on IIS
