TOPIC: Directory has no index file

Directory has no index file 13 Years, 5 Months ago Karma: 0
Hey Edwin,

I am getting this error when I try to set up a slave site.

"Directory has no index file.
Browsing this site or directory without an index file is prohibited.

If you are the site's webmaster, you can remedy this problem by creating a default HTML page with one of the following names:

* index.html
* index.htm
* default.htm
* Default.htm
* home.html
* Home.chtml

NOTE: Filenames are case sensitive, i.e., Home.html is not the same as home.html"

I have created the subdomain and I think I've filled in the site details correctly. When I click on the subdomain link like you show on the tutorial video, I get this error message. I have attached a screen shot of the information I have entered in the site details. Please help.

(Update: I almost got it to work by pointing the subdomain to a different directory in the same subdirectory that the Master Site is installed. Now I'm getting this error:

Notice: Undefined index: QUERY_STRING in /hermes/web08/b978/moo.adventd/advent_website/mycom/libraries/joomla/environment/uri.php on line 161

On which platform are you working ?
Are you using a Windows platform and if yes, which one ?
Are you using apache or IIS or something else ?

Joomla (not JMS) assume that you are working on IIS.
If this is the case, it seems that your IIS does not contain the QUERY_STRING parameter.
You can see all the variable available when you are using a phpinfo(). function.
