Missing Entries in config_multisites.php 13 Years, 11 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello Edwin

I have created websites based on our conversation group etc.

and looks like I follow all steps

1)configuring subdomains in cpanel
2) using proper templates
3) vip.domain.com is created without any problems in the multisite component

I have compared all files with done by you and only difference is that there are no any records of newly created websites in

config_multisites.php

I have reinstalled component

looked into the ownership of the files

chmoded to 755 and 777 and tested both way

This file I assume is responsible to redirecting to proper website.

all newly created admin site goes to master.

what can be wrong?

Your suggestion is appreciated

First you should not modify the config_multisites.php manually and there are plenty of such files on the disk to save the JMS Multisites info.

This file is update each time you update something in the "manage site".
There is also a "master" one that is only updated when you successfully save a slave site.

So if you saved correctly a slave site, the files should be updated.
If you suspect it is not updated, this is probably because you don't read the correct file.

I did not want to modify any files , your component should do it. I spent a quite long time trying to create new websites and only this worked. I don't know if this is issue with php.ini or other restrictions but when I did echo > config_multisites.php file was replaced. I think this is strange

Going back to square one.

How can I troubleshoot administrative access to slave websites?

Every time when I create slave like just 2 minutes ago

alberta.canadareic.com is created correctly by using template

but while accessing alberta.canadareic.com/administrator I'm facing master admin not alberta ( I verified Im getting into master admin)

what could be wrong in configuration?

Thank you very much Edwin

Just to follow up.

In order to troubleshoot why all new slave websites administrator goes to master only
and not knowing the process of creating new slave websites I took the time and monitored all changed on the server and compared with before and after.

Ended up that

config_multisites.php is not changing and not calling new slave website.

In conclusion looks like this file is not recreated during process of creating new slave website.

1)The question is what could be a cause of it ( if this is the main issue)?

I have access to root so configuring php or rights is not the issue ( if this is a problem)

2) I upgraded to the newest component and patch

You suggestion will be appreciated because soon we will launch billable solution and we can't spend countless hours trying to find out what is wrong.

We have managed to achieve the goal by deleting config_multisites.php and countless recreation of the same slave website. Creating new website takes sometimes 1-2 hour and many testing if is working.

Please suggest what can be wrong
