TOPIC: create symbolic links to other joomla install

create symbolic links to other joomla install 14 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 0
Hi.

I'm currently in the process of setting up a service where people can sign up for a webshop using jms multisite to create their website.

The problem is that the mastersite is not the site the component is running on and whilst it copies the database without a problem, the symbolic links seem to always point to the files of the site running the component rather than the mastersite.

Is there any way of choosing where the links point to?

Thanks

When you put a path in the "Deploy Directory" field, this create a directory in which a replication of the directory structure that you have defined in an optional JMS Template rule using the "actions" defined in the JMS Template rule.

When a "SL" symbolic link action is selected to create a folder, this automatcially create a link that point on the master directory that is the only place where physically Joomla is installed.

I remember you that the concept of JMS Multisites is to have a single instance of Joomla and of course a single instance of the PHP Code.
So all the Symbolic Link must point to the location where the PHP code is physically exists.

Normally JMS Multisites should only be installed on the master and not be present in a slave site.
So it is assumed that the place where you create the slave site is the master.

If you are trying create slave sites in the front-end of a slave site, this may create links between the slave sites. But as you have normally the target slave that point to the master, finally you reach the master with an indirection.

You can not choose the location where to point the links.
