TOPIC: Component Installation error
#5853
Component Installation error 13 Years, 7 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello,

I have looked on the previous threads and followed exactly the solutions given but with no success. I have also looked on the tutorials and followed step by step closely.

the issue is : Component installation error

1) Install from Upload package file :
a. with FTP layer enabled (from joomla configuration)
JFTP::write: Bad response
Unable to write entry

b. with FTP layer disabled (from joomla configuration)
JFolder::create: Ne peut pas créer le dossier
Le fichier sélectionné n'a pas pu être copié.

Please note that here i have increased limit size of upload, all the specified folders have written and read permissions, and FTP access (login, passwords, and path) are correct. I don t have any problem installing other components.

2) Install from directory:
a. with FTP layer enabled (from joomla configuration)

JFTP::store: Bad response
JInstaller::install: Echec lors de la copie du fichier : /var/www/vhosts/xxxxxx/httpdocs/tmp/com_multisites_V1.2.41/front/templates/black/css/edit.css vers /var/www/vhosts/xxxxxxx/httpdocs/components/com_multisites/templates/black/css/edit.css

b. with FTP layer disabled (from joomla configuration)

JFolder::create: Ne peut pas créer le dossier
Le fichier sélectionné n'a pas pu être copié.

But the component here is installed, when I go to install the patches it gives me this error:

Unable to write entry
Erreur lors de l´installation du fichier "administrator/includes/defines.php"
Copy failed
Copy failed
Copy failed
Copy failed

Please advice,

Thank you,
weblogy

See trouble shooting in chapter 9 of the user manual or server answer concerning this error message in the forum.

This is due to a permision error that does not allow you copy files in your system.

The most frequent reason is that your server has different ownershiop of the file and that suPHP is not installed on your server to guarantee a consistency of the ownershop of the files and folders.

A solution might be to user the Joomla FTP layer to have the same owner for all the files and folders.

Perhap you should contact your hosting company support to know why the owners of the files and folders are not consistent.
Sometimes you have a owner for the FTP and another one like "apache" for all the extensions installed from the Joomla installation interface.

Review the permission and ownership of the files and folders.
