Problem creating new sites. (After Migration to new server.)

Alright, here is what we did.

1. Migrated over the site to new server using akeeba backups.
2. Everything seems to be working on the website. (I mean the other third party components)
3. Remove the patches and uninstalled the multisites from the new migrated server and delete the following directories.
1.1. /multisites
1.2. /administrator/components/com_multisitesold
1.3. /administrator/components/com_multisite
1.4. /components/com_multisites
1.5. /components/com_multisitesold
1.6. /installation
4. Now, re-installed the latest version and reinstalled the patches.
5. Created the new template according to the needs.
6. Entered the new site details and hitting save gives out a error saying

Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL

This error is exactly same to the one we see when we have the wrong settings in the configuration.php

Now, what I am assuming here.
As we are on a VPS dedicated server… we are using the username root to connect to databases:

So, I thought may be multisites might be using that old password. So, I changed over that password as well to what we have for root on the old server but still the same thing.

Now, we created a new directory on the new server with a fresh joomla and multisites install and it worked for us. Now, the problem is that we don’t really know what files are still there after the multisites is uninstalled.(may be this would be an error)

I would be happy to give you out any info you might need to get into the server.
Thanks.

When you uninstall JMS, only the /multisites directory remain as this is the place where all the slave sites definitions are saved.
When you uninstall JMS, this also restore all the backup files that where performed by JMS when it install the patches. This include the "configuration.php" files that is restore with it original value.
All the backup are stored in the /administrator/components/com_multisite directory.

So you perhaps have to check that the "configuration.php" after having uninstall JMS.

yup! after i remove the jms multisite configuration.php looks normal like a common joomla install.

also, like i said i only get the error "Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL" when i use root as a username. using anyother use for the DB works OK.
