TOPIC: Master in subdirectory
#4659
Re: Master in subdirectory 14 Years ago Karma: 0
Greetings.

Here’s my current setup
master=zmaster.zaeba-wl.de

slave1 www.zaeba-wl.de is front end slave with links to subdomains. The users are only administrators for the other websites. Users share with zmaster.

Subdomain:
slave2=praxis.zaeb-wl this should have single login to
slave2a buswl.zaeb-wl these will be websites for each department
slave2b zpmswl.zaeb-wl
slave2c mpg.zaeb-wl

These sites will share some articles and menus.

What is the best setup for sharing users?
Praxis will NOT have regular users in its DB but will share DB with children.
Each child will have users. Some will have the same user in both DB. For instance
user is member of buswl and mpg but not in zpmswl.
Can JMS do single log in or must I use jFusion for this?

I am not sure if JMS shares in both directions.

If this is not possible now, could it be possible in a future version?

Thanks,Marq

Your requirement is inconsistent as you say that
slave2=praxis.zaeb-wl this should have single login to
and later you say
Praxis will NOT have regular users in its DB but will share DB with children.

If you want to have a single sign-in then you have to share all the users.

The procedure is the one described in the tutorial video 16.

When you share an extension, you share ALL the records of the extension.
You can NOT decide which records (ie. users) that you want to share.
You share ALL or nothing.

You can have single sign-in when you share the users between websites and when you are on the same domain (that is your case as you have defined slaves as a subdomain).

remember that the sharing of an extension mean that you share the MySQL tables.
So that works in both direction as the information (record) is present only once.
All the other websites have a MySQL link to the orginal table.

I'm wondering if a user logs into PRAXIS if the username and password would be read by the subsites. Can PRAXIS read all other users in the DB even with different prefix?
Username&Pass are in SingleDB prefix mpg_ zpms_ but not in goz_.
Will this work?

Would you consider it for a later version of JMS?

Thanks,

What is praxis ?
If this is an extension, it is not yet defined in JMS Multisites.
If you want that we review this extension to see if it could be added in JMS Multisites, send us this extension in attachement of an email.

Sorry for confusion. praxis is a subdomain. It is the parent of the other domains
Subdomain:
slave2=praxis.zaeb-wl this should have single login to
slave2a buswl.zaeb-wl these will be websites for each department
slave2b zpmswl.zaeb-wl
slave2c mpg.zaeb-wl

All depend the definition of the sharing you have defined between the website and the dependencies.

If you share the users between all the slave 2,2a,2b,2c then the "common" part is ".zaeb-wl" and in this case they will be shared. (same domain name).

You can check this ".zaeb-wl" when you go in the slave site that must share the user and check that "session_cookiedomain" domain contain the correct domain starting with a dot '." (meaning any subdomain)
