unable to create website templates 15 Years, 5 Months ago Karma: 0
First, thanks for answering my previous question, it was helpful Now I've figured out how I want to set up the slave sites, but I'm having a new problem. (running on Red Hat EL4, in a Plesk environment).

When I go to create a website template, I give it a side ID and a Template Site, and then click 'save'. It tells me "The template is created.", but it's not created - it doesn't appear in the list on the 'Manager of the websites templates" or appear as an option when I try to create a new site. There are no error messages at all, but the template isn't there.

I don't understand your description.
The confusion is that you say create a "JMS template" and expect a result in "manage site".
This is 2 differents things

When you go in "JMS template", you define the rule for the replication.
When you save this "JMS template", it must appear in the list of "JMS template".

Have a look in the tutorial step 13 that present an example.

No, sorry. That's what the template management page is called: "Manager of the Websites Templates".

When I go to that page, by choosing 'templates' from the menu, the list of templates is empty. If I choose "New" to create a new template, then fill in the details, choose 'Save", it takes me back to that template manager page, and says 'the template was created', but the list is still empty.

Can you tell me if you can define slave site.
The only reason that I see is that the files is not saved on the disk (but I don't know why)
To perform a real diagnosis I should have to debug on your website

Check at least that the files /multisites/config_templates.php is created and contain the infos that you have entered.

If you want that I investigate on your server then you can order my billable support on
www.jms2win.com/download?page=shop.produ...35&category_id=1

Your problem could also be due to a permission problem.

Might I say how much I appreciate your timeliness in responding on these forums.

So- I *was* able to define slave sites, but still not templates. But- I think it must have been a permissions issue, because I changed the permissions on the config_templates file, and after that, the templates started being saved.

Problem solved! But I still don't understand how it changed- as I think I said, I've successfully created templates before, in this same installation. I think it would be helpful if there was some sort of error message about permissions in instances like this, if that's possible.

Thanks!
