First slave - simply redirects to master site 12 Years, 5 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi Edwin,

My client purchased JMS Multisites and I'm trying to set it up first on a test server to make sure I know how to use it. The site is a fresh Joomla 2.5.6 installation on a Hostgator shared linux account (with cpanel).

Here's the master site:

hornbyisland.digitalbloom.net/

The subdomain actually points here:

digitalbloom.net/hornbyisland/

I created a slave using another subdomain:

test.digitalbloom.net/

It maps to this subdirectory:

digitalbloom.net/test2/

See the attached screen capture for the confirmation I received when I created the slave. However, going to the slave simply displays the master site instead of starting a new Joomla installation. Any ideas?

Thanks!
Chris Clay

Check to see if you hosting environment does not add a WWW in front of the subdomain.
Perhaps you should defined the domain in the slave site with both WWW and without WWW

Here

Hi Edwin,

I just returned from holidays and saw your post. Hostgator doesn't add a "www" in front of subdomains, but just to be safe I tried defining it both ways in the slave site and I'm still simply being redirected to the master site instead of being prompted for a new Joomla installation. Any other ideas?

Thanks...

Chris

Verify that you have correctly defined the subdomain in your hosting environment.
Do not use "redirection" that change the domain value.

Verify that the hosting subdomain "document root" match the JMS "deploy folder" and vise versa.
You can use the "hello.php" (video 7) to verify the location on the disk that must be provided to JMS deploy folder.
