TOPIC: How to add relative path to images?

How to add relative path to images? 12 Years, 7 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi Ed,

My subsites are looking for images in parent directory

elsewhere I read the solution is to make sure paths are relative (this makes sense)

but when I add a relative path eg images then /var/www gets appended automatically. So I end up with var/www/images not /var/www/multisites/xxx/images

The path is sometimes modified by the joomla editor that you are using.

If you have an article in which you want to be sure that the editor will not change the path then you need to go in the joomla "global configuration" and disable the editor.
Set "Editor - none". So that when you will modify your article, the editor will not modify the path.

Hi Ed,

This has nothing to do with the editors.

It is mostly about the media manager and secondly about the background option in any custom html module.

Conditions:

1. If slave media manager image path is images, the media manager links to master/images and path becomes var/www/images.

2. If slave media manager image path is mutlisites/slave/images, custom html module background-image style looks for mutlisites/slave/images/img.jpg
Screenshots below.

With var/www/ appended when looking at the media manager:

There's a new feature in 2.5 custom html module where one can select a background image via the media manager.

If the path in the media manager is correct, I don't know why Joomla does not read the correct path.

Did you already tried to fix the path present in the media manager to remove the "/var/www"

JMS does not touch to that.
When you create a slave site and when you specific an "image folder", it just fill the DB with this value. Value that you can change from joomla.

I will test on a clean install but I think it is a JMS bug.

1: Go to media manager in slave site

2: Click on the options button at top right

3: Enter: images in the required field.

4: click save and close options, so you are back in media manager

5: now see location for images is /var/www/images not /var/www/multisites/slave/images
