Pre Sale Question regarding limitations 12 Years, 8 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello,

I have a presale question regarding JMS Multi Sites to see if it will meet my needs:

I currently have 12 sites that utilize different servers, different domains and the same 3 Joomla components. I would like to build a multi-tenant architecture where I just share the applications.

However, each individual site would have to be able to have their own customized template and MySql database for storing user data. These sites would have to have backend templates as well that could be shared, along with modules for the administrator end.

Are there any limitations to this (such as compatibility/customization of components) and such?

If not, then is this possible to do with a Rochen VPS server?

Thanks.

The concept of JMS is to share the same Joomla installation (PHP code).
That mean that all the webites must be on the same server to share the joomla files and folders.

As you share the same Joomla PHP code, this mean that all the websites use the same version of the extension.

If you have a VPS that give you all the privileges, this will probably work.
Perhaps you could start checking the "hello word" as explained in the tutorial video 7.

You can have the website that have their own DB that can also be present in different server as Joomla allows setting up the "DB host" parameter.

To see the list of extension that are currently defined in Jms Multi Sites, see

Hello

I whant to build an main site + two sub domains like in atached pictures.

If possible I'd like to each main and two secondary domains have their own database.
It is necessary that the main and two sub-domains, users have single login.

If this option is not possible, I only use two databases, one for the main, one for the two side domains, but with the same shared login.

I want to use multiple databases to allocate one server for each, in the event of high traffic.

Which of the two variants are possible?

With JMS, you can share the users between different DBs.
You just need to have the MySQL user privileges to do that.
If you are using cPanel, this can be done by the assign the same MySQL user to several DBs.

You mentioned that you want to be able assign different servers for the DBs.
So I suppose that you are using dedicated servers and that you have full root access.
In this case, you will have to ask your MySQL server admnistrator to declare MySQL users that have access on the different servers.
I am not sure that you will be able to share the MySQL tables between different servers.
Between different DBs on the same server this is OK.
