TOPIC: 1.7.0 to 1.7.1 Upgrade

1.7.0 to 1.7.1 Upgrade 13 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 0
I am wondering what I need to do to successfully upgrade from J-1.7.0 to J-1.7.1? I see the new release is more than a patch, it includes database upgrades as well.

My Multisites configuration is one master site + one slave site that uses symlinks for most of the folders on the master.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

I didn't yet tested the update of joomla from 1.7.0 to 1.7.1 but I can just tell you that you need JMS 1.2.65 to be compatible with Joomla 1.7.1.

See the FAQ for the procedure on how to get the latest version.

If this is an upgrade that require a migration tool to apply the changes in DB layout modification then you probably need to re-apply the same migration in each slave site to make the DB changes also applied in the slave site.

Can you give us the link where you read that joomla 1.7.1 require DB layout modifications.

Hi Edwin -

Here's the link: docs.joomla.org/Upgrading_1.6_from_an_existing_1.6x_version -- look at "Step 3" near the bottom of this page.

When you say that I will probably need to re-apply the same migration in each slave site to make the DB changes - I am guessing this cannot be done from the Multi-sites Tools option - but rather I should login to each slave to perform these changes?

Yes, you have to go in the back-end of each slave site.
In the link that you provided, they explain how to proceed with the DB modification with PHPMyAdmin and how to execute the "mysql" script in each DB with each table prefix.

So you have to repeat this operation in each website.
