TOPIC: How to use JMS to manage my existing websites

How to use JMS to manage my existing websites 13 Years, 3 Months ago Karma: 0
Dear Sir,
I am very much interested with the JMS component and planning to buy soon. Have seen lots of potential with it. However, I still have some questions that needs your advice regarding ways to implement this component to existing joomla websites.
I am currently managing more than 10 joomla sites installed on different subdirectories. I got the idea how to implement JMS to manage sites from fresh installed joomla sites using the replication, but how can I use this component to manage my existing joomla sites.
Please advice... Many thanks in advance...

It is possible to convert existing standalone websites into slave sites
under JMS but this require manual operations.
To move a website under JMS, you have to ensure that all the extensions with
the same version are installed in the master.
When you are sure that the PHP code is present in the master website then
you can create "fresh slave" site where you will replace the DB connection
with the existing standalone DB or a copy of the DB.
After that, you will still have to verify that you have all the specific
files present in the slave site like the images, video, ...

Replicate a website defined in JMS is easy.
In the tutorial video 0.a, we present the concept.

In the video 0.d, we present an overview and show how to replicate the
master website.

In fact, you have to create a JMS Template rule where you specify which is
the "template site" (the website to replicate) and which are the new DB parameters for
the target website (DB name, User, Psw, Prefix,).
Once you have defined the rule for the creation of a new website, you can
use this rule to create the new site.
