Yes this is possible.
You can get inspired of the Backup/Restore procedure described in the FAQ.
www.jms2win.com/en/faq/faq-joomla-multi-sites#cat-268

If you have shared content (DB table linked), all depends if they are cross DB linked or in the same DB.
If this is inside the same DB, in general, there is no problem.
If this is cross DB links then it is recommended to re-use exactly the same DB name to avoid updating all the SQL statment manually to make reference to the new DB name.

edwin -

i somehow managed to move the site over... the new host is a cpanel one and the database name changed...
anyways, last but not the least question... i am unable to login to the backend now... no mater what i enter it won't let me in and won't give an error.

If you had shared the users between website and that you moved all the environment in a new server with new domain name, it is possible that you are forbidden to login because you are using another domain name.

When sharing the users between website, only the users on the same domain can access the website.
So I suspect that you changed of domain name on the new server and that you have shared the users.
If this is the case, you can edit the "/multisites/config_multisites.php" file and put in comment or delete the master cookie domain.
