Installation Directory, Please Explain More 13 Years, 7 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi

I notice JMS needs the Installation directory. But then this is a security risk. Also, I have some plugins that allow for use of Joomla config outside of Joomla, so they call the framework.php file, which checks if Installation is present.

So I rename the installation file, but JMS says its not patched. But I cant change Installation back for security reasons, and my other plugins fail.

Please can you tell us how we can let JMS know the renamed installation directory, to use this instead? It is not advised to use installation. A hidden domain as you stated it is not a solution.

Thanks

If you followed our recommendation that consists in the consideration that the master website is a repository or a library where you install all the extension and that you put in a specific domain or subdomain that is not public, this is not a problem to keep the installation directory.

You can create slave site that does not need to have the installation directory present.

The installation directory is just required when you want to be able creating fresh slave site and therefore receive the "Joomla Web Installer".
If you don't need it, you can remove it and just re-install the directory each time you need it.

It is not possible to change the directory name.
