Hi.
First off, would like to day that MultiSite appears to be the best package for serving multiple sites that I have seen so far. I've watched the video and read through the feature set and I'm pretty sure that it should work for my needs. But before I splash out and invest the money, I've got a couple of questions.
Here is an outline of what I am trying to set up.
The idea is provision of an online service that users subscribe to. After payment each user gets access to an online tool - for example an online journal and database. Each subscriber only has access to their own data, no data is shared between users.
So far, providing each user with their own 'website' seems to be the easiest solution. This is mostly as there are no multi-user components that can carry out the tasks that I need. I can easily create a custom website using Logos that achieves what I need to do. I can then replicate this site using MultiSite for each user.
My questions are as follows...
1.
Has anybody used MultiSite with Logos Form and Report Manager? Will it work? Logos is a tool that creates forms that can be used to interrogate and interact with the back-end database. I will likely use some custom tables specifically for Logos to interact with. Can these tables be included in the site replication? I can understand that you may need to actually test the application to determine this, but as this is also a commercial application, I am apprehensive in purchasing the full version until I can determine that it works. I can however supply a free version, although this does not have the same feature set. You can download the 'Community Edition' from the bottom of the following page

2.
I notice that integration with virtua-mart is possible, does this mean that (slave) site creation can be carried out automatically with no interaction from myself? For example, A user visits my site, and purchases the online service. The slave site is created automatically after payment is processed. I assume that if this is possible, that there will be a shared database for the slave sites (1 or 2 database solution).
3.
If question 2 is possible, do the slave sites have to be on the same domain? I would like to have the site that sells the service on main-domain.com, but the actual service served from another-domain.com.
If 2/3 is not possible, do you know if it can be achieved by some other means?
Sorry for my many questions, and thanks in advance for your reply.
Regards.
