I have Community builder installed and I have been able to create a slave that utilises the master CB tables. The slave’s tables are stored in the database with CB.

I wish to create another slave and have that slave's tables stored in a separate (second) database. I also wish the slave to utilise the tables (link) in the first database.

Is this possible?

YES this is possible but you need to have the MySQL User privileges that can access both DB.

If you are using shared hosting, this might be more difficult to get the MySQL user privileges that can access different DB and create views between DBs.

Many thanks for the reply, very much appreciated. What is it that I should be asking the host provider in the tech speak that they would understand?

Is it that “I need the capability / privileges to create views between DBs”

You need that your MySQL user has access on different DB and that it is allowed to CREATE and SHOW VIEWS between the DBs (cross DB)
