Multi Sites Menu Item questions 14 Years, 5 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi Edwin,

from past questions on this board i realize that JMS Multisites will not work for what i want to to. However Menu Items my be a alternatvie work around. i am creating multiple community websites using RT Gantry templates. I am creating a single separate site to host a merchant directory. So each community site should have a menu item on thier main menu where if they select it, it will
bring that merchant directory into thier respective site as if it were there own.

1.)Will this product do this? if not what would it do? How is this different from a Wrapper?
2.)Does it need to work in conjunction with JMS Multisites? If not, will it still work with Gantry?

thanks!

First JMS Multistes does not work with RT Gantry framework as you could read it in this forum as RT has "hacked" Joomla and redevelop their own stuff.
We have reported that to RT and they declined to fix Gantry to be comptible with JMS.

The Multisites Menu Item require JMS as it retreives the infos concerning the slave sites using JMS itself.
The Multisites Menu Item is moreless the same as a weblink where you provide the full URL to the slave site.
When you define a Multisites Menu Item, it connects on the slave site to retreive the current menu item definition and build dynamically a full URL using the domain defined in JMS. This results in the equivalent of a WebLink that is hardcoded. Multisites Menu Items has the advantage that you can change the slave site menu item without to update all the "caller" menu items.

Therefore, I don't think that the Multisites Menu Item will do what you request and I suggest that you try do it with native Joomla external weblinks.
