TOPIC: using subdirectory for a new site

using subdirectory for a new site 14 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello,

I am building a website for a client and we are trying to have several websites with only one domain...

for example...

we would like to have www.ourdomain.com as the master site in a master database, and then we would like to have the following sites in a slave database...

Is it possible to create the new sites this way? I started setting up the component and when I go to the /canada directory (the only one i have attempted setting up so far), I just get the "index of /canada" instead of an install.

Also, we would like the sites to all start as copies of the master website instead of new installs.

Thank you in advance for your help.

YES it is possible to create a slavie site into a subdirectory and You will find the answer to this question several times in this forum.

Site ID = slave1
Domain = {site_url}/{site_id}
Deploy directory = {root}/{site_id}
Create directory when not exists = ON (click on the check box).

You must have a consistency between the domain {site_url} and its location on the disk {root}

If you want to replicate the master website, this is also explained several times in this forum.

Create a JMS templates and use "template site" = <master DB>
to replicate this <master db>

To see how to use JMS Template, get inspired from tutorial video 13, 16, CP-05
