Hi,
I wish to get a few information before i buy and test the component.
Here are my requirements:
I need to set a group of websites with Joomla + virtuemart.
Most of the content from joomla will be the same, except for example, the contact and the support info.
The shops based on virtuemart will need to share the same database of products, while providing different options based on the location of the customers in France.
- The products we sell are delivered using our own local delivery services.
- The billing and buyers accounts have to be managed independantly in each website.
- Statistics, traffic information have to managed independantly in each websites.
We must use one single domain name as the entry point to the website.
For example i need a customer based in Lyon to enter the main website and be directed to the shop that covers his area, so that he can get the proper range of services.
Does the component provide the possibility to automatically redirect the users to the proper website based on his location?
For example:
The identification of the location of the customer could be done asking the zip code the first time he comes.
I am open to any suggestion about a differenet way to do what i describe here with the component if possible.
Kind Regards

It is possible to have several website per cities, department or things like that.
We have customer that are using wesbites to create as many websites as there are french department.
You can also use the "Article Sharing for JMS" to share some articles between website.
By default each website has its own content (articles, menu, ...).
Only a limited number of extension can be shared.
Concerning specific case of VirtueMart, there are some constraints.
If you want to share the same VirtueMart, this mean that all the products, price, "store name", .... will be identical for all the websites.
In addtion VM save some configuration in files on the disk and therefore are totally shared between all the websites. This concern the payment method, the shipment and perhaps ofher. This mean that if you want to create a shop for "Lyon" and other one for "Paris" then both will use the same PayPall account, merchant account, or shipment delivery system.
In summary, you could have different website with different contact info but the VirtueMart should be seen as a "national" one as most of the configuration parameters are identical (in case where you share it totall).
