Do I need all? multsite, article, and virtuemart?

I want my users to be able to access our articles and our shopping Cart.
If I load multisite does it not link all aspects of the Master Dbase to the slave sites????

I wish to use Multisite for different location/chapters, ie So that my one database handles everything, Chicago, London, etc...I want everything to be the same with the exception of local news.

New to Joomla and quickly learning..cost...major time investment...

and

Can Slaves be on different servers?

Answers from anyone wlecome

Thanks for your help

As you could read several times in this forum, the slave can not be on different servers except if you are able to share the same disk.
The concept of JMS is to share the files and folders.

Concerning the content, each website has its own content.
If you want to share some articles between website, you probably need "Article Sharing for JMS" that allow to read the articles from the other wesbites defined under JMS.

With JMS can not share everything and have a single administration.
You can only share a limited number of extension that therefore have a unique admin of them.
JMS just add a tool to allow the installation of extension in slave site from the master websites.

Perhaps you could have a look in the "overview" video that we have in the tutorial.

Edwin2win, Thanks for answering the questions in my .prev, I was glancing through at the time and I am now able to review in detail all the info, really appreciate you taking the time for my .redun questions.

Here are two questions you may be able to help me with, due to the language module interpretations -Its says the content sharing can not be modified later. Is the true or just a problem with my language editor.

1) Compatibility and extension sharing for (I did not see them in the list):
Juga - JUGA - Joomla User Group Access and/or RS Membership for access control
If not which works with your system with .min glitches (.min =None)

2)I would like to have my access control extend beyond the master site, can vhandle with the above or your recommendtion ---example: The slave (separate database /subdomain/ located in a different directory/file on my .serv) I would like to limit who can visit that site bases on mastersite login permissions and group acccess parameters.

Concerning the question "-Its says the content sharing can not be modified later. ", I don't understand the question.

1) If you want that we review a new extension that is not yet present in JMS definition, please send us the extension in attachement of an email.
JUGA is defined in JMS but can not be shared.

2) Today you have Noix ACL that perhaps do what you are looking for.

If you don't share the users then you have independent login for each websites.
As soons as you share the users, they will have access to all the websites.
A Super Administration will have access to all the websites.

It is not possible to have specific permission for each users on each website and in the same time share the users.
