Is JMS for me ? One database > two websites 14 Years, 9 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello,

I'm just confused about what is possible to do easily with JMS.
In fact, I hoped to achieve what is explained in this tutorial :
Multiple Domains and Web Sites in a single Joomla! installation

Because the configuration of domains redirection is a mess, some limitations appear, for example:
- Searches don't work (results are redirected to the primary site)
- Logins redirect also to the primary website[/li]
- No support for this tutorial

My need is quite simple:
I built a site with a lot of content.
I need to build a slave site (lighter) for a subdomain of the primary one.
1/ Slave site has a different main menu
2/ Some articles are shared
3/ Users are shared
4/ Different templates (very close but different)

It could be great if :
- Searches were possible within each website
- Only one database in order to keep it simple to maintain

My questions are :
Is JMS suitable for me ?
What extension do I have to buy (JMS only or JMS + article sharing) ?

Thanks for your help
Philippe

YES Jms Multisite can do that.

1) By default each website has its own content (menu, articles, forum, ....)
2) With the "Articles Sharing for Jms", it is possible to read articles coming from other website.
3) With Jms, you can decide to share a limited number of extension and also the user.
To benefit of the Single Sign-In they must be on the same domain. So website with different subdomain or subdirectories are ok.
See also www.jms2win.com/component/content/article/135
4) Yes it is possible to have specifc templates. See tutorial video CP-05
www.jms2win.com/tutorial#jms12x-CP-05

So you need Jms Multisites + the "Article Sharing for JMS".

Thanks for your answer.
Depending on my client answer, I'll give a try to JMS and give you my feedbacK.

I'm just afraid to install such a component in an existing website...
With backups and testing server, it should be ok.

So, one more question: can I install JMS on several servers ?
I mean, is the license for one install only or can I use JMS for multiple installations (I think about my test servers...)

Edit: Oups I've found the answer to my question in that post :
www.jms2win.com/forum/24-joomla-multi-si...tes-restriction#1630
I can install JMS as many time as I need. License is unlimited. Great
