TOPIC: Help starting correctly

Help starting correctly 15 Years ago Karma: 0
I need to install AdsManager but i don't want to put the legacy mode on my site so i'm thinking to use JMS for doing that. I'm thinking to make a slave site with the legacy mode on and in the slave site install the AdsManager component, do you think is it possible with this dependency ?

- sharing the same user
- sharing jomsocial user and activities
- sharing the menu

how could i make this configuration ?

Before installing the extension in legacy mode in the slave site, you will have to enable the legacy mode in the master website to allow installing the extension.
Once installed on the master, you could disable the legacy in the master if you don't use it in the master.
You could effectivelly use JMS tools to install the extension into another slave site that you will have the legacy enabled.

It is also possible to share the joomla users between the slave site.
JomSocial can also be shared.

Concerning the menu, they can NOT be shared.
You perhaps need to use the "Multisites Menu Item" to create a bridge between the menu.

so the most clear method is:

- do a fresh install on a slave site (subdirectory of the main site)
- make a user'share from the main site to the slave site
- user JMS tool for install the extension on the slave site
- buy the bridge for the menu

is all right ?

thanks

If you create a fresh slave site you will not be able to share the users.
So if you want to share the users, you have to create a replication rule with the JMS templates.
See an example in the tutorial video 16
www.jms2win.com/tutorial#jms12x-16

Sharing an extension is decided when you create the website and can not be modified once the DB (slave site) is created
