TOPIC: 47 Site replications

47 Site replications 15 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 0
I have a project that I am studying the possibility of using JMS.

There is going to be one global site in 5 different languages with one menu structure.

This global site (the english language) will be replicated into 47 other local sites. If the local site is in one of the global languages, also replicate down the language, otherwise just english.

The local sites will be able to access all the Global content but not change. But in the menu structure there is going to be some content that is local and each local site administrator will create its own content.

Basically, some content will be global and some content will be local.

I want to use K2 to manage content.

What I need to know is:
* Is this possible with JMS
* How will it be the performance of JMS with 47 sites

Thanks for any insight I can get.

Dear augusto,
YES you can do that with JMS.
We have already customers that are using JMS to create websites for different countries or cities.
Sometimes they have several hundred of websites.

YES you can use K2.
It is also defined in the JMS tools definition.
See the list of extensions defined for the JMS tools and the one that can be shared.
www.jms2win.com/component/content/article/135

You can effectivelly create a JMS template that will define the rule to replicate websites that will give you to all your slave site information ready to use and that you will be able to change in each individual slave site.

Edwin,

Thanks for the reply.

Can I with K2 define which categories (or content) I want to share with slaves and which one I do not want.

That is. I want to define a global category with content and when I change any content in this category it gets automatically shared with the slaves.

And other ones, don't. That is, even if I change on the Global site, it does NOT get shared with the slaves.

Thanks again.

Dear Augusto,

with JMS, when you share an extension, you share everything.
So you can NOT share partially K2. So you can not decide which categrory you want to share.

So when you decide to share an extension, any changes in one site will be automatically applied in the other side as you share the same data (the data are only present once in the DB).

Replicate a website consists in creating a JMS templates that defines the replication rule and after that, you just have to apply this rules 47 tiimes.
Once you have checked the rule once, all the websites can be created very quickly
