TOPIC: Clone Website

Clone Website 15 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 0
I am having difficulties cloning my website.

I want to make an exact copy of the site (same menu's same articles) but the domains would be mainsite.mydomain.com and copyMainSite.mydomain.com. Is this possible with Multi Sites? I was under the impression it was when I purchased the software.

If it is possible do you have any documentation on how to do this?

Thanks

YES this is possible.
You probably find the answer in the forum because I have replied several time.

You just have to defined the replication rule in the JMS templates and after use it.
See tutorial video 13 www.jms2win.com/tutorial#jms12x-13 that show how to use JMS template. You can also have a look in the video 16 that also use JMS templates to share the users. www.jms2win.com/tutorial#jms12x-16

Create a JMS template
template id = replic_master
template site = select the "master DB"

Create a slave site
Site id = slave1
domain = copyMainSite.mydomain.com
Template site = replic_master <======= This is the rule that you have defined
new table prefix = slave1_
Deploy directory = the place that you have choosen in your hosting server for the copyMainSite.mydomain.com subdomain

I guess I can clone a Slave template. I followed all of the steps on video 13 when I create the site I don't receive any errors but if I try to go to the URL of the newly cloned site I get a 403 Forbidden Error. I tried to delete the newly created coned site and I get an "Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL"

I have tried to create several more cloned sites and it doesn't look the any of the new databases are being created. I have tried several different DB settings on the Template Details page. Here is what I am using as the DB settings:

New DB server: localhost (same as master site)
New DB Name: {site_prefix} (and I tried: test)
New DB User: root
New DB Password: the root password
New DB Prefix: tran_ (I also tried {site_prefix})

These fields are different then what is shown on Video 13

An error 403 forbidden probably mean that you have not confifgured your hosting server correctly.
If the domain that you have provided is a "domain" or a "subdomain", you have to check that you can access the directory.
To check your hosting server domain or subdiomain configuratoin you can use the "hello world" that you copy in the directory you have specified in your hosting server configuration.

Once you are sure that your hosting server is correctly configure, you can deploy the JMS slave into this directory.

So first check the hosting server configuration
