I'm getting the following errors when trying to install:

Unable to find install package

Any ideas on the problem? Permissions or file size?

Can you give the Joomla version.
Is is with Joomla 1.5.14 ? (I think YES).

I suspect that you have a timeout during the upload of the package that may result with such error.
To reduce the potential problem relative to the upload timeout, I suggest that you try unzip the file into a temporary directory and after that try install it from this temporary directory.

Perhaps you also have a limit in size for the upload package.
JMS has a size of +/- 1.8 MB.

It's with 1.5.11 and despite trying to do a local install can't seem to get it to work!

Do you have the same error message and line number when you try install it from a directory instead of with package (potential problem of timeout).

Do you know your PHP.ini timeout value ? (30 second by default maybe not enough).
