I am building a shopping center website where each shop will have their own small website in the main website.


I want that each store owner can add new product or remove products . or basically have their own store


But the public users will be same on all those shops.

YES, with VirtueMart we have proposed to only share the VM users and not the product catalog of other thing.

So YES, you could share the same user DB and have specific store.

Just a remark concerning VM.
The payment method configuration is identical for all the shop.
This mean for example that if you enable a PayPal payment method, the payment will be performed using the same PayPal email account for all the shop.
The reason is that VM payment method save the configuration on the disk and that we have not re-implemented all the VM Payment Method to have specific configuration for each website.

Would there be any probable solution to this?

I mean all virtuemart slave sites have to share the same Paypal payment method.

Though there is a work-around as discussed in www.jms2win.com/forum?func=view&catid=17&id=894 , it is still not a perfect solution. The administrator have to manage the paypal accounts and key in the paypal email addresses for all slave virtuemart owners. It will induce many problems with clients.

If there is any good solution, pls let us know.

I understand there are lots of payment methods but most users would only concern Paypal.

The only solution would be to re-write the VirtueMart kernel part concerning the Payment method in aim to save the configuration into the DB instead of in a file on disk.
That may have impact on all the payment method that perhaps should be updated as well to now working with the DB instead of with files on the disk.

For the moment, we don't see fast solution.

You could perhaps address this problem in re-writting the PayPal payment method only to save the information into the DB rather than in a file.

Another solution is to re-write the PayPal method to save as many configuration files as you have slave site.

But in all cases, this require to re-write the PayPal payment method for VirtueMart.
Perhaps we will develop in the future a such "MutliSite VM PayPal payment method" to address this requirement for PayPal only.
