TOPIC: configuration.php cannot be written

configuration.php cannot be written 11 Years, 10 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello,

It seems that when changing the Joomla configuration, Joomla sets permissions of configuration.php (to 444 I think), so that it is read only. When I then change something in the Multisites configuration of that site, it complains that the file cannot be written. I have to manually first change the permissions via the shell.

Can the multisites component check the permissions and try changing them appropriately instead of failing right away?

Kind regards

JMS does not automatically change the permission of the "configuration.php" to let you control its content.
When it is set in "read only" this mean that you have changed something directly in the "configuration.php" file that could be overwritten by JMS when refreshing or updating a slave site definition.

So if you if you want to autorise JMS rebuild the "configuration.php" file, you have to set it permission in "write" mode.

If you are scare about the rebuild of the "configuration.php" file, you can make a copy of it and compare the modification performed by JMS.

We do not overwrite a "read only" configuration file to let you control the system and verify the content.

Becarefull that as long as you don't save a slave site definition correctly, it may not be recognized by the JMS "super switch" and you may have the master website displayed instead of the slave site.
