Slave Creation: MakeDB error 11 Years, 10 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi,

I am running the latest version of Multisites on Joomla 2.5.6. I have had this running fine for many months but have just come to create another site using my template and I am getting the following error:
"MakeDB - Unable to login as Root to create a DB user dynamically."

I don't know why this has started coming up (I have updated MultiSites to the latest version recently) as I always create the database and user in cPanel before creating the site. I have never used dynamic DB creation as I am on a shared host.

I have read both:
www.jms2win.com/en/forum/23-general-ques...eationstill-confused
www.jms2win.com/en/forum/23-general-ques...-creating-slave-site
but neither of them seem to explain how the solved this problem.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks Alistair

This simply means that the "MySQL user" that you provided dos not have the permission to create DB dynamically.

Perhaps that you provided a wrong DB name or wrong MySQL user in the slave site definition.
In this case, when JMS can not connect on the DB, it tries to create the DB and/ord the MySQL users.
When it also fail to create the DB dynamically, it reports such error message.

So if you don't want to create a DB dynamically, verify that you entered the correct DB name, correct MySQL user, correct MySQL password.
If a "configuration.php" is already created with wrong values, update it.

Thanks for that!

Worked out the problem...

It was because of the characters '^', '$', '%' and '^' automatically generated by my cPanel as the database passwords - need to chose other special characters like '!' and '.'.

Thank you to have shared this information concerning the special characters
