The component installed fine, registered, new patches...everything went smoothly.

BUT I accidentally specified my base url under "list of domain names", and it went to the installation procedure, attempting to overwrite my master site files.

After closing the installation, I deleted the installation directory and configuration.php-dist. All my other files are still intact, so I was hoping that would solve the problem, but I'm still getting "No configuration file found and no installation code available. Exiting..."

I'm fairly new to Joomla and web development, and I feel very stupid for experimenting with my live site and not having a recent backup.

Can anyone help me? I hope I can restore the site without having to reinstall everything.

If I remove www from the url, the site loads perfectly.

This is normal as it does not exists in your list of domain.
If you have now access to your master website, you can remove you wrong slave site that redefine the master

As you have probably remove the installation directory you will have to re-install it with the JMS patches.
This explain why you have received the previous error message.
"No configuration file found and no installation code available. Exiting..."

mean that No configuration.php is present and that the installation directory is not present to start the Joomla installation.
