Install JMS without symbolic links 15 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi,

The "Symbolic Link" is forbidden on my server. I have read the tutorials, but I don't understand very well how to install JMS without symbolic links.

Could you explain this please.

Thank you for your help

First, the symbolic link is a functionality that my be available on Unix platform only.
I suppose that you are on Unix platform as you say forbidden.

You can check if it is really forbidden with the hello world procedure as explained in the tutorial step 4 to 7.
www.jms2win.com/tutorial

Event when Symbolic Link is forbidden, you can install JMS.
I suposse you have installed JMS as you say that Symbolic Link is forbidden (setting menu).

If your question is how to create slave site when Symbolic Link is forbidden, I suggest you have a look on the tutorial step 10 & 11. www.jms2win.com/tutorial
In this case, you can only create sub-domain or domain and the most important point consists to correctly setup your hosting server (not JMS) to assign the same directory path for all the websites.
See also FAQ and hosting section that give some helps depending on your hosting server

For example you have to configure your hosting server like :
- (www.master.com) path on the disk (document root) = /jms2win/public_html/jms/demo
- (www.slave1.com) path on the disk (document root) = /jms2win/public_html/jms/demo

Notice that both domain use the SAME document root directory
