TOPIC: Exclude images folder
#4958
Re:Exclude images folder 14 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 0
Wait a second ... When I set it up that way with common fields empty the files are correctly copied to the media and images folders BUT the configuration is now going back to the main site.

Common is empty
From file or folder is setup screencast.com/t/NDk1MmU2Z

BUT media manager is pointing back to the main site screencast.com/t/YmYwYWM4

In short the Media Manager still points back to the main site.

When I add the path in common screencast.com/t/NDAzOGI4YWQt The files get copied from the main site.

This has got to be a bug. There has to be a way to copy a fresh set of images into a slave site and have them show up correctly in the media manager.

You just have to deploy the website into a specific directory and you will have a specific image folder.
In your screnshot, the deploy folder is empty.

If you deploy the into a specific directory and setup your domain or subdomain to point to this directory, you will have a specific images directory with the content of your zip file.

Hi Edwin

Would you mind providing a working example? I just blew away my site because there is no checks and you can delete your multisites dir ( ask me how I know )

So my common is setup like screencast.com/t/YWNjYjc2YzY
and my folders are like screencast.com/t/YWNjYjc2YzY

multisites root is /var/www/html/multisites

Thanks
Dave

OK so this does NOT work. It must be a bug...Here is the deal

If you have a lot of images in the main site, they get replicated over to the slave site OR the slave site points back to the main site for the location of the images.

If you set the folders in the common section the images get copied over to the slave site.

If you leave the common folders blank the slave site points to the images at the main site in the media manager.

There HAS to be a way to not share images from the main site.

You have not applied correctly what I have written.
Deployment folder = something
Alias link = empty
Path to media = empty
Path to image = empty
Template folder = this depends if you want to be able install new template in the slave.

Files and folder action not presented:
images action = copy.

If you want that we setup your environment, we have a billable support that you can order at

Thanks for the help Edwin but this will not solve the problem.

Here is my setup as you suggested screencast.com/t/MTg3NjRhN
This is what the Media Manager is configured to screencast.com/t/YzkwMjZmN

So at this point, Yes I get the images that I want BUT all of the slaves that are built off of that template now share the images folders...This will not work

This is how I am setup for slave specific image folders screencast.com/t/NGQzOTVhZmEt
This is what happens when I configure for slave specific screencast.com/t/ZjIwNzNkZD (133relpath is my slave site)

The Media Manager path is setup correctly now and I have slave specific images folders like I want BUT the main site images are replicated. This configuration should give me specific images folder with the images that I have set to copy in the files \ folders section screencast.com/t/OTFiNjFiMmE ), BUT it does not! It gives the main site image folder!

I am not sure why I should pay for your billable support when this is an obvious BUG. I have given you the specific configuration for you to replicate this bug. screencast.com/t/OTFiNjFiMmE is my images folder settings and that folder contains the standard Joomla images that I would like to include with my slave sites.
