Ok thanks for going into more detail.

So here is my understanding now: The functions under the 'Tools' tab is the same as 'manage sites' however 'Tools' contains additional functions so I don't really need to worry about re-saving sites under 'manage sites' if I'm using 'Tools' (especially for many slave sites).

Moreless YES.
JMS Tool may have limitation due to the list of extension that are defined.

The advantage of the JMS tool menu is that you can propagate the action to the children website.
The advantage of the JMS open-resave is that is works also when a extension is not defined for the JMS tool menu but can not propagate the action to the other websites.

Brilliant, I understand perfectly now.

I suppose if we need to create a new extension definition for Tools then we can purchase support hours.

Hi Edwin,

Sorry to bother you again about this. I've been adding new menu items using the 'Multi Sites' menu extension and the only way I can see to update the slave sites with the new menu item is to re-save the slave via the 'manage sites' tab.

Can you please explain how I can achieve this via the 'tools' menu because I plan to update menu items for hundreds of sites.

The JMS Tool menu is not designed to modify the menu item in plenty of websites.
It is designed to help install, share or uninstall extensions.

So you can not do that with the JMS tool.
