TOPIC: templates CSS for child sites, referencing the roo

templates CSS for child sites, referencing the roo 14 Years, 3 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello,
I have a problem with my JMS child sites referencing their CSSes from the master site.
I have child sites setup to use their own theme folders. I can change the theme settings in the child fine. But when I look at site, the CSS files are actually being referenced from the master site.

I am using a windows 2003 with Plesk.

I'm sure it's a setup/config problem, but I'm not sure what it could be.

Thanks

The way that working a templates is specific for each templates implementations.
So you have to check how the templates compute the path or URL that is provided when it creates the templates.

If you want that we check or debug the templates on your server, we have billable support that you can order at

Thanks for the offer.
I think I know what the problem is, I just need to confirm.
Since I'm using windows, I can't use symbolic links which means I can't use the {deploy_dir} trick to copy the templates and their CSSes.

The templates are rocketthemes.

If the sites want to change the CSS, since the deploy folder will always be the same for all sites, they cannot share the same template if one changes template.css for example.

Is there a way to copy a template and change it's name so it is installed as like mytemplate2 so that it won't conflict?

thanks,
Rob

YES you can replicate any template in your windows.
Go in the /templates directory and copy paste any template you want.
In example copy rt_mynx in rt_mynx_slave1
Once you have this copy of the directory, you can go inside and just change a text in the templateDetails.xml
Inside, you have the name of the template <name>
Just change the name
That's all.

Joomla will discover the new template with its new name.
