Hello,
I just did a fresh install of joomla 3.1.1 and jms multisites 1.3 medium

I registered the component and i get error code 500 when trying to update geolocation cities.

Also if i go to Components-->multisites --> Tools and click on Master db icon, then again i get error code 500

Can you please let me know if this is normal as i would like to start building my production scenario in this installation.

Final question
my final directory structure is following
/home/username/contains 2 directories
master.domain.com --> this will be my master site, and will not be public
domains --> here i will put my domains and then subdomains inside of them

Does this sound good?

Thank you in advance

Regards

Hi everybody,

problem is solved. It was caused by the "Geo Location Filtering". Preselected was "Europe" in 1.3.02 and that blocked the google bot coming from US ;-)

In 1.3.10 no filtering is preselected anymore. So if you leave that tab alone, you won't have those problems.

Cheers

Hi,
I need to confirm some details before I proceed to purchase the JMS full edition including the installation:
-I'm using the latest version of Joomla. Is it compatible with J3.1?
-What are the things I need to prepare to install it in our server.

I also need to know if these extensions/modules are compatible with JMS:
-RS Firewall
-Modalizer
-MijoShop
-Ajax Contact
-Mail order Pro

I am new to Joomla. I need your extension to create a replicating site.

Thank you in advance.

Sorry but this is not clear.

WHere did you get those message ?
Can you give a screenshot ?

Which version of JMS ?

The "NEW admin email", "NEW admin password", ... are effectivelly fields that can only be entered when you duplicate (replicate, close) a website.
Otherwise, in case of a fresh slave site, this is the Joomla web installer that will build the DB and not JMS. So it is not possible to fill in the DB NEW values as the DB does not exists yet for this website.

If you are trying to replicate that does not exists any more, this may explain such error message.

The master can be installed anywhere.
We just recommend to put the master in a non-public domains or subdomain and without any specific data. (This is not mandatory but just a recommandation).

The advice is that the slave site are never a subdirectory of something that is public.

For example avoid using the cPanel default subdomain creation that automatically propose you to have also a subdirectory of your primary domain.
The potential issue is for the Search Engine that will see 2 websites with the same content. The first one can be the subdirectory and the other one is the domain or subdomain.

This is the reason why JMS provide sample rules with the directory structure presented in the tutorial video 0.b - slide 21 to 24

This is just recommendation and you can decide to change that.

All depends for which domain or subdomain you need a certificate.

If you expect just have subdomain certificate, it is possible to buy wildcard subdomain certificate.

If you want to have certificate for differnt domains names, you need to buy a solution for multi-domain certificate.

The constrain is that WHM/cPanel can only have 1 certificate per cPanel account.
Therefore, the certificate must be valid for all the domains and subdomains for which you expect to use the certificate.

1) If you have a method to assign a user to a specific profile and that you have setup the joomla ACL or perhaps else to manage the part of a website can be accessed by a user then create websites that is sharing the joomla users and their profile should probably do what you want.
Beside that, we have the JMS "Partial User Sharing" that allow the users have different profile depending on the website.

2) By default, the content of a website is specific to each website as the content is generally stored in the DB and that each site can have their own DB or at least have a specific table prefix.
Concerning the "/templates" directory, it can also be specific.
See the tutorial video CP-05
https://www.jms2win.com/en/tutorial#jms12x-CP-05

3) Concerning PayPlan, its content can not be shared.
So if this is the extension that restrict the access on some page in Joomla, probably that it will do what you want.
All that I can tell you is that we have defined PayPlan in the list of extension present in the JMS tool menu.
https://www.jms2win.com/en/list-of-extensions?view=extlist&id=269&Itemid=53

As each website have their own content (menu, ...) this would be the same as you have standalone website for .com and another one for .uk.

4) Yes we also provide the possibility to install JMS on your environment.
This is the reason why you can buy JMS with 1h of support for the teaching or 3 hours of support for the installation.
Our hour rate is 75 EUR/hour
All these information is present in the home page. (top right for the support).

First in your description, it seems that you are using a slave site as a "Sub-Directory" and not as a "Sub-Domain".

You mentioned that you use the shareMasterSubdomains and the rule that you should use is "shareMasterSubdir" because your URL requested is www.xxxx.it/automazione

One of the potential reason to have "403 forbidden" could be due to a problem of permission.
To verify the permission of you server, you can use the "hello.php" (see video 7) to verify if you can run php accross the symbolic link.

With FTP, verify that the /htdocs/public/www/automazione directory exists and that inside, you have the symbolic links to the "administator".

Put a hello.php in /htdocs/public/www/automazione
and put a hello.php in /htdocs/public/www/administrator

On internet, enter http://www.xxxx.it/administrator/hello.php
You should get a page displayed.

Repeat with http://www.xxxx.it/automazione/hello.php
Again, you should have a page displayed

Repeat with http://www.xxxx.it/automazione/administrator/hello.php
If you receive a "403 forbidden", contact your hosting provider and ask him to "Follow Symbolic Link"

If the files and folders that you see in cPanel are really physical files and folders then you question does not make senses.

If the files and folders are Symbolic Link then you have to fix the potential issue that you have if the JMS "setting" menu tells you that symbolic link is forbidden.

As I already told you, if you want to replace the symbolic link by a physical copy, you need to update the JMS template rule to replace the action "symbolic link" by "copy".

When done, you can delete manually the symbolic links present in you website and perform a "manage site" Open slave site definition and Re-save slave site defintiion to let the JMS template "copy" action re-applied on your slave site.

I hope this is more clear.

If you already have create the "robot.txt" into the slave site, you first need to remove it (delete it).
Change the JMS Template rule that you used to build your slave site.
To know the JMS template rule name, go in Manage site and edit your slave site.
This is the field "template" that give the name.

Go in JMS Template site and edit the template.
Go in the "file and folder" tabs and modify the action for the "robots.txt" and replace the "symbolic link" by "copy".

Return in the "manage site" and edit the slave site and re-save it.
This will detect that the "robots.txt" is not present and will use the action "copy" to rebuild it (instead of the symbolic link)

Your question is not easy to understand.

When you go in the "Manage Site" and edit a slave site definition, when you save the definition, this apply again the "JMS template rule" that you have selected.
Therefore, when new extension or tables are detected based on the template then the slave site DB is also update. If you don't want to update the DB content of your slave site, you need to change the JMS template rule to use a "fresh slave" without any DB defined.

Yes you can use the "New Like" button to make a copy of an existing JMS template rule.
Don't forget to change the name of the template before saving.

If you have JMS 1.3.09 and Hikashop 2.1.2 or higher, the multisites functionalities are present and Hikashop is able to filter the categories depending on the website.

You need to setup the JMS Template rule for the Hikashop filtering.

If you have a problem of display of the Hikashop module, verify that you have postions defined in the Joomla module as well as pages on which the module must be displayed and also published the module.

If you want to migrate the master from J1.5 to J3.0, you also have to convert all the slave site that are runing under this master.

Before to migrate, we recommend that you first update all the extension in your J1.5 to have the extension compatible with J3.0 (or at least J2.5)

To migrate a website, we recommend that you use the SPUpgrade extension that allow "import" a J1.5 DB content into a J3.0 website.

With the JMS 1.3.x maintenance menu, you could also fix the potential DB issue that you may encounter during the migration. It will help you verifying the DB structure of the slave site.

Blank page as you can read plenty of time in this forum is generally due to a PHP Fatal error.

1) Yes this can be due to a permission error that can not access a file that would be required.
2) cPanel is far easiest than Plesk
We never encounter any issue with cPanel.
3) If you create a slave site into a subdirectory of your master, this should work on plesk. The most frequent problem with plesk are the different domain or subdomain when the open_basedir is enabled.
