A subdomain is any "word" before the domain.
when you write www.domain.com
The subdomain is "WWW".
You can also write FORUM.domain.com.
In this case the subdomain is forum.

If you defined something like TEST1.PERSO.domain.com
The subdomains is "TEST1.PERSO". In fact you start to have a subdomain "perso" that at its turn as a subdomain "test1".
