creation of a slave site 14 Years, 11 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi,

I have a problem with the creation of a slave site. I have correctly installed de multi site plug-in and checked the patches. But when I arrive at the end of the process and I save the new slave site , it starts automatically the installation of a joomla site and delete my master site. I have read the documentation and the tutorials... I don't understand

have you any idea please

If you have deleted your master website, this probably mean that you have used the same DB and same table prefix.
See video present in the tutorial (probably step 9) if all the previous condition are ok (mean symbolic link).

What are the parameter that you have provided to define the slave site ?
See tutorial step 9 that give sample value that should work on any websites.

When you create the slave site using a fresh Joomla Installation procedure, ensure that you provide a specific table prefix for the slave site.
When you are in the DB Configuration panel where you enter the host, db name, user and password, don't forget to open the Advanced panel to enter the table prefix.
It must be different of the master website prefix to avoid replacing the master website but the slave site (The problem that you seems to report). By default, Joomla use jos_ as table prefix and if your master is also installed with jos_, it will be overwritten.

Can you confirm that you are using JMS 1.0.x and not JMS 1.1.x

With JMS 1.0.x, the procedure is described in the "demo installation" document
www.jms2win.com/documentation/doc_downlo...tallation-version-10

The tutorial is applicable for JMS 1.1.x.

Can you provide more and detailed information on the parameters your have entered.
The key element for the JMS 1.0.x is to configure the hosting server for the domain or sub-domain to SHARE the same document root directory than the master website.

On which environment are working ?
Hosting provider ?
Master and slave Domain name ?

hi,

Yes, I'm using JMS 1.0.X and I have already readed this document.

My hosting provider is AMEN. When I arrive on step on page 19 and when I save then the installation of joomla site start automatically and deleted my master site.

How i have to configure my hosting server?
